Bright future’ Olympiad

  In the honor of the 21st anniversary of the state language on 6 march 2010 ‘KATEV’ International Foundation organized the semi-final stage of the 2nd republican ‘Bright future’ Kazakh language Olympiad among the students of 7,8,9,10 and 11th grades of Kazakh and Russian groups of secondary schools and Kazakh-Turkish high schools in Almaty.

   Its aims were to expand the usage area of Kazakh language, its development, and to identify and support the gifted students in this field of knowledge.The Olympiad was to foster students’ interest in Kazakh language and literature, traditions, history and culture; and also improve their self-development and creative abilities.

The students of 7,8,9,10 and 11th grades of Kazakh and Russian groups from 30 Kazakh-Turkish high schools and other secondary schools throughout Kazakhstan gathered in Almaty to attend in the Kazakh language Olympiad.

338 students from 68 schools from all regions including Astana and Almaty cities took part in the competition. They competed in six sections in two different groups (Kazakh and non-Kazakh) that included language study, singing, emphatic reading, drama, scientific project and country study.

In each section the winners and prize-winners were identified. 


 

They were awarded diplomas and presents of ‘KATEV’ International Foundation at the closing ceremony that took place in Kazakh State Academic theatre of children and youth named after Musirepov.  In general count, the following schools were given ‘Best school’ nominations:

No.2 Shymkent kazakh-turkish high school for gifted girls

No.1 Shymkent kazakh-turkish high school for gifted boys

Aktobe regional specialised kazakh-turkish high school for gifted youth

Taraz kazakh-turkish high school for gifted girls after Aysha bibi

As for ‘Best Team’ nominations, the winners were Jambil region, Almaty region, Aktobe region and South Kazakhstan region.The final stage of the olympiad will take place on 7 April 2010 in Congress Hall in Astana. The winners of the semi-final are to take part in there.
