‘Bright future’ is a threshold of a mother tongue

It is a sacred duty of each citizen to elevate and promote the honour of our mother tongue.  On the 18th of February the ‘Bright future’ Kazakh language Olympiad was organized by ‘Daryn’ East-Kazakhstani regional scientific-practical centre and Oskemen Kazakh-Turkish high school. The competition was dedicated to the 18th anniversary of independence of Kazakhstan and 21st anniversary of the Kazakh language.
28 winners of Semey and Oskemen city Olympiads took part in this regional competition that carried the aim of expanding the borders of usage of the state language, increasing the interest of younger generation to Kazakh language, its literature, traditions, history and culture. The fact that tasks for all competition sections were prepared in Kazakh only, with a view to not only Kazakh schools but also Russian schools, is a great event that once more demonstrates that the honour and prestige of the Kazakh language is getting greater.
In order to define the gifted students in the theory of Kazakh language and literature 8 students participated in the section of ‘Kazakh language knowledge’. The tasks for this section were prepared in the form of multiple choice questions based on the general school curriculum. While the winners of this section were Aydana Zhanakhmetova from the school for gifted students after Jambil and Yevgeniy Konin from Oskemen Kazakh-Turkish high school, the winners of ‘Scientific project’ section mainly focusing on propaganda of Kazakh national values were Azamat Yerkasimov from school #44 after Bokeykhanov and Anastasia Cherepanova from school #24 who were chosen among 10 students. In ‘Emphatic reading’ section that tested students’ understanding of coherent speech were Moldir Masken from Semey’s school #16 and Danil Kazantsev from school #9. In this section, the audience was astounded by the performance of Moldir that was very highly appreciated by the public. Challenging were the competitions in ‘Singing nightingale’ and ‘Stage dramatists’ where competitors had to rival in singing Kazakh folklore and doing drama respectively. In ‘Stage dramatists’ section, the winners were the students of school #20 after Baytursinov from Oskemen. In ‘Singing nightingale’ section, the winner was Madina Nurtazina from Semey.
As was seen from the competition, it gave the audience great pleasure to view non-Kazakhs perform in Kazakh. During the event one could experience a profoundly beautiful atmosphere that touched upon hearts of many guests attending the event. Acting as sponsors, East-Kazakhstani language development department, Russian bank and parents of Oskemen Kazakh-Turkish high school, presented mobile phones to the winners of the competition and DVD players to silver and bronze medal winners. All winners were awarded diplomas of East-Kazakhstani education department. In addition, the teachers of those winners were also given diplomas.
At the end of five-day-competition the participants and winners were once more thanked for participating and making their contribution to the development of Kazakh language.
